Temporary Senior Accounts Clerk

Hereford 15 - 20 Temp to Perm Contract

Seeking an experienced finance professional with a passion for supporting meaningful causes for our client, a well respected charity organisation based in Herefordshire. The Senior Accounts Clerk will support the Chief Finance Officer and play a key role in the effective running of their finance department. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team in a role that combines traditional accounting duties with the rewarding nature of working in a charitable setting. This position will initially be on a temporary basis, with the view of it developing into a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and reconcile purchase ledgers, company charge cards, and bank accounts
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including month-end journals, accruals and prepayments
  • Manage donations, Gift Aid claims, and contactless donation systems
  • Prepare financial data for quarterly VAT returns and annual audits
  • Support fund reporting, capital project accounting, and grant claims
  • Load and manage budgets in Sage, including developing direct-reporting tools
  • Collaborate with colleagues on year-end procedures and digital finance tools

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience working in the charity sector or with charitable organisations
  • Proficiency in Sage and/or Xero
  • AAT qualification
