Management Accountant

London 300 Contract

Reporting to a senior finance leader, you will provide high-quality financial management support to a range of services and budget holders. You will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and financial advice to ensure resources are managed effectively.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys working collaboratively with non-financial managers and contributing to the delivery of high-quality public services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and financial performance reports.
  • Support the annual budgeting and financial planning processes.
  • Develop and maintain accurate financial forecasts.
  • Provide financial advice and challenge to budget holders and operational managers.
  • Monitor expenditure and income against budgets, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Support business case development and financial modelling.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives and the delivery of financial targets.
  • Assist with year-end processes and external audit requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A recognised professional accounting qualification (or be actively studying towards one) such as ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, or equivalent.
  • Experience in management accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • The ability to interpret complex financial information and present it clearly to non-financial audiences.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using financial systems.
  • A proactive, organised, and collaborative approach to work.
