NHS Finance Manager x 4

Cardiff 40.1K - 45.8K NHS Pension, Hybrid Working, Excellent Career Development Opportunities Permanent

Job Reference: 893207KR

Have you ever considered a career in the NHS?

Can you use your skills as an Accountant to make a difference to improving patient care?

Have you been inspired by recent events to further your career in an industry where you can really make a difference?

If the answer to these questions is yes - we want to talk to you!

We have recently partnered with Cardiff & Vale University Health Board, who after a restructure of their finance team and several internal promotions are looking to hire four Senior Accountants to work alongside Divisional Directors and Medics, in one of their four key service areas - Primary and Community Care, Acute Services, Public Health and Tertiary Care.

These are key roles within any NHS provider organisation in improving the way in which they can deliver services. Not only will you be responsible for budget setting/control within your division, and monthly management accounts/reporting, you will be instrumental in working with clinical and operational teams in identifying and delivering efficiencies, financial and operational, to ensure that patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

We all know that the NHS is under immense pressure as a result of Covid-19, you only have to switch on the news to find that out! Many hospitals have seen another sharp increase in Covid cases in recent months, as well as trying to clear the backlog of elective patients, cancer patients, both of which are at the highest levels ever seen, as well as battling to serve those needing urgent/emergency care.

However, as we have seen the NHS is great at reacting to a crisis and is currently adapting to the challenge ahead and transforming the way in which hospitals are run, and how services are delivered, so it's a very exciting time to join as we embark on a national programme of change and improvement.

All of us at some stage have debated with friends, families or colleagues about 'how things should be done' in the NHS, so why not put your money where your mouth is and use your skills as an Accountant to really make a difference to the people of Cardiff and South Wales?

Key Requirements;

  • CCAB Qualified Accountant (finalists may be considered).
  • Public Sector experience is an advantage, but we are keen to speak to candidates from all sectors with transferrable skills.
  • Extensive experience of budget setting, management and control.
  • Extensive stakeholder management/engagement experience.
  • Experience of delivering cost improvement schemes that support operational plans.
  • Extensive experience of financial performance/monitoring against financial plans and forecasts.
  • Excellent negotiation and influential skills, particularly towards non finance colleagues where there might be conflicting opinions.
  • Self-motivated, resilient and the ability to keep calm under pressure.
  • The ability to adapt and thrive in a changing environment.
  • Above all, the inherent desire to use your skills and experience to make a difference to patient care.

  • BAND 7 (£40,057 - £45,839pa) *Extensive career/salary development opportunities and annual pay increases.
  • Location - Woodland House, Maes-Y-Coed Road, Cardiff, CF14 4TT.
  • Hybrid working, 5 days on site out of 10.
  • Excellent pension and holiday allowance.
