The finance team at Herefordshire & Worcestershire Health & Care NHS Trust are seeking to appoint a Deputy Financial Controller to support the Financial Controller with the day to day performance management of the Systems and Reporting finance team.

The Systems and Reporting finance team is responsible for producing internal and external reporting summarising the Trust’s financial position, including corporate reporting to the Board, the submission of Trust financial reports to the Department of Health (via NHS Improvement, NHS England or other such body) as well as external bodies such as Monitor. Internally the post holder supports all statutory/NHS Accounts ensuring these represent a true and fair view and meet financial timescales and legal requirements, interpreting guidance where this is required.
Key responsibilities will include:

This role is suited to a fully qualified accountant with financial accounting experience from within the NHS, wider public sector, or similarly large and complex organisations.
The ideal candidate will be a highly driven, enthusiastic and energetic individual with excellent Excel skills, the ability to handle large volumes of complex data, and demonstrate a real understanding of the importance of a robust balance sheet.
Ideally candidates will have experience of leading small teams, good knowledge of capital, and be confident liaising with internal and external auditors.
This is a hybrid role, requiring 2 days per week on site in Worcester. There may be more time required on site initially for training purposes.
