With confirmation of the contract to complete the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, and with breakeven duty or better achieved for the tenth time in eleven years, the opportunity to be the Director of Operational Finance in the Trust is a distinctive one within the NHS. In conjunction with the Chief Finance Officer, the Director of Operational Finance will be responsible for the day to day management of the Finance and Procurement directorate, ensuring delivery of statutory financial duties as well as managing the procurement strategy for the Trust within the context of the national framework. Their finance function is stable, with well-established leaders in corporate specialisms and Clinical Group business partner roles. Transformation is needed in procurement, capital management and contracting and this role is pivotal in achieving that. Financial discipline is a key enabler of their mission.
Candidates will be CCAB Qualified or equivalent, with ambition, integrity, drive and passion, who can communicate finance simply to everyone. We need someone with high standards, combined with a supportive leadership style that aims to get the very best out of everyone in the team, regardless of their seniority. We want someone who believes in the existence of the NHS being to help change the life chances and health outcomes of the people it serves.
We are keen to speak to people who can work with partners, both business partners and in the public sector. Fantastic team working skills are essential and you will have worked or be working in a large complex organisation. If you have time spent in the private sector that would be beneficial. If you do not, we need your commercial mind-set and financial ingenuity, and a strong focus on excellence in financial governance. The Trusts workforce need lean, easy to use financial systems, great procurement, and a sense that the money works for them.
