Reporting to the Head of Procurement, the post holder will manage their designated category, devising appropriate strategies in conjunction with key members and teams within the Trust. The post holder will manage a portfolio of projects within their category (sometimes in additional categories as required) and achieve the most economic supply arrangements, whilst adhering to procurement rules and Trust governance.

Supporting the coverage of £80m non-pay spend across the Trust, ensuring strategies that deliver value for money and improved services for designated Categories. The post will provide a comprehensive procurement advisory and planning service to divisional teams, services and Corporate Directorates, supporting them in driving efficiency in clinical and non-clinical expenditure.

The post holder will be required to deliver procurements within pre-defined budgets, procurement of physical assets, supplies or services for a department or service, and responsibility for the authorisation of new contracts and purchase orders. The post holder will have full line management responsibility of assigned Category Assistants. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring all products and services within the scope of the post are procured in line with local and national procurement strategy and in line with Page 2 of 12 both UK and European Procurement legislation and SFI’s, SO’s, to the Services and Corporate Directorates, supporting them in driving efficiency in clinical and non-clinical expenditure.

They will have corporate responsibility for ensuring policy implementation that requires a significant amount of change management. The post holder will be resourceful and provide a confident personal presentation to staff at all levels within the Trust. The post holder is sometimes called upon to participate in staff training and training of end users in processes at Trust level.

The pay rate for a band 7 is £215 per day paid to your umbrella company, or £164.91 + £19.90 holiday pay per day PAYE.
