Senior Finance & Commercial Business Partner

We’re proud to be partnering with one of our clients in the public service sector as they seek to appoint an experienced Senior Finance & Commercial Business Partner to strengthen their team and drive strategic financial insight.

• Collaborate with business units to achieve operational goals by supporting budget development, tracking financial performance, and identifying financial opportunities. Ensure cost drivers are thoroughly assessed, savings proposals are realistic and well-prepared, and new initiatives are rigorously evaluated for viability.
• Align financial strategy with the organisation’s priorities by gaining a clear understanding of the business plan and key outcomes, translating these into meaningful guidance and support for budget holders.
• Working closely with senior internal and external stakeholders, acting in a client-focused capacity, to lead the planning and management of budgets across diverse activities — including oversight of overtime reporting — ensuring financial risks are managed and resources aligned to deliver commissioning goals and service plan outcomes.
• Apply commercial insight to assess and refine costing approaches, working in close partnership with operational teams to support long-term financial sustainability and drive strategic organisational change.
• Assist in the development of commercial tenders and procurement proposals, ensuring alignment with procurement policies and delivering value for money. Following contract awards, ensure any financial implications are accurately reflected in business unit budgets.
• Provide guidance to contract managers on procurement best practices and ensure adherence to the Procurement Act, enabling effective contract management and helping to identify and realise savings where appropriate.
